Community InvolvementOne of the important jobs of the Stream Team is participating in community clean-ups of local waterways. An ongoing job is to periodically patrol the Gorge waterway and clean out any garbage that has been dumped into it. We also participated in British Columbia's part of the International Beach Clean Up. This was on September 17 and 18, and involved the Veins of Life teams as well as volunteers from the community who came out to help pick up garbage from the local streams and beaches and then sort what was found in order to collect data on what type of material is being dumped into the water. Another community event that the Stream Team was involved in was B.C. River's Day. We assisted with the Durrell Creek display, making signs, picking corn which was given out to the visitors, and being available to answer questions about ongoing projects.
