Week 7: July 16th - 20th

Monday was spent working on websites. We started a site for the Downspout Disconnect project and the M3 project and work was continued on the Salish Sea website. We also wrote a short article for the Saanich News on the Downspout project. Tuesday morning we went to the Coast Guard Office for Radio Operator practical training, instructed by Lisa Fairley. In the afternoon we continued our work on the websites and made appointments for the Downspout project. We started a new website for the Gorge Gala event. On Wednesday morning, we picked up materials for the Downspout project and re-potted the alder trees that are to be planted in the fall. In the afternoon, we went on a tour of the new sewage treatment plant in Saanich. On Thursday morning we did our first official Downspout Disconnection appointments. We visited 2 houses and performed disconnections for one of the houses. Information was provided to the other house. In the afternoon, we went on a tour of the Heartland Landfill. On Friday we spent the entire day on the Downspout project. We visited 5 homes and performed disconnections at 2 homes. Information was provided to the other homes. Some will be revisited for disconnection and rain barrel connection at a future date.
