Week 9: July 30th - Aug 3rd

Monday we continued our work on the web-pages for Salish Sea, M3, and Gorge Gala. Tuesday the crew traveled to Fleming Beach to learn some sea creature identification and take pictures of species like aggregate sea anemones, crabs and sea cucumbers for the Salish Sea web page. On Wednesday and Thursday Jessica spent the day at Fleming Beach where an excavation was being conducted. Boulders were being removed and Jessica was there to id any species present on the rocks and then ensure their return to a safe area of the beach. Meanwhile Taryn traveled to the Jordan River to conduct water sampling with some students from Royal Roads. This project will continue through the fall. Thursday was spent disconnecting downspouts, including some rather creative work on one house to extend two downspouts from the side of the house into the front garden. Friday morning was also spent disconnecting downspouts and in the afternoon the crew began to work on a species identification and information section for the Salish Sea website which is now up and running at salishsea.bc.ca.
