M3 DAILY SUMMARY:

Tuesday, July 17th - A busy office day where we wished we were on the water - of course.

Wednesday, July 18th - Stayed with L pod for the day on the west side of San Juan Island. We started the day at the south end of the island at Salmon Bank and headed north with the boats and whales. The whales were spread out for most of the day, traveled north to Hanna Heights and then turned south again.

Thursday, July 19th - Another day in the office, including preparation of data for the database.

Friday, July 20th - We started our day in the fog at the south end of San Juan Island - vicibility ranged from 450 to 200 metres at times. Once the fog cleared we were busy talking to recreational vessels and coordinating with Soundwatch. A lot of pleasure craft were out fishing for the day, keeping us on our toes.

Saturday, July 21st - It was a wet and bumpy morning in Haro Strait. J and K pods were on the west side of San Juan Island. A report of L pod off the Victoria waterfront sent us bouncing back across Haro Strait to check things out- leaving Soundwatch to monitor the activity around J and K pods. L pod was travelling out to Race Rocks and continued outbound at the end of the day.
