Meet the Veins of Life Watershed Society and Rock Solid Foundation E-team 2001...

Abraham Charlie

I have joined the Veins of Life/Rock Solid team to learn more about the environmental activities in my habitual surroundings.  My past experiences salmon fishing have instilled a willingness to learn more about my environment and its sad but true happenings.  What part can I play?

My favorite animal is the spirit (wolf) because my heart has always followed it and I have a very unique eye for this animal and its cultural influence on this world.  My role model is my late grandmother because she had such an eye for the environment and always said imagine the world as it is now and how it will be in a hundred years for our children.

I spend most of my spare time with my girlfriend hiking, playing pool, walking and listening to music, and hanging out.  In five years I would like to be exploring the world.

Cam McDowell

Cam spent most of his life in Creston BC, while his high school years were spent at Shawnigan Lake School on Vancouver Island.  In 1995 he Graduated from high school and began his University life at the University of Victoria.  His first interest at UVic was physics, but after a couple years he decided to change his major to a Bachelors of Science in Geography.  One day Cam hopes to become a GIS technician.
For the last 5 years Cam has tree planted to support his University education, and now that he has finished his degree he plans on finding jobs related to his field.  The Veins of Life Watershed Society and Rock Solid have provided Cam with some valuable job experience for future career opportunities.

Cam recently aquired a new position within the Ministry of Energy and Mines.  We are all very pleased he was able to use his experience at the Veins of Life to further his career. Hear what he has to say...

Peter Allen

This is Peter Allen, a cancerian, seen here crouching in contemplation…he is looking out at the ocean to where he grew up sailing with his folks.  He played hockey and lacrosse for a number of years, but then the alternative activities lured him into the underground.  Art, Music and skateboarding eventually led him into graffiti art and Djing.  He is now pursueing his own clothing line called Village Idiots.  Information on his clothing and art is available @ sper27.tripod.com.  his greatest rewards come from sharing knowledge and technique with other youth in the community and continuing the passing on of urban art forms.  In 5 years he hopes to have an established studio with his art partners and a wife and children soon after??
His personal solution to pollution is to inspire people he comes into contact with to make a conscious change in lifestyle, rather than be pushy.  He is pleased to be part of his second E Team and to continue representing Rock Solid.

Stacy Wedel

Stacy has joined the E-team because she loves being outside and learning about the environment. She hopes to learn more about native plants, and ways to keep mother earth happy. Her love of nature arose from hitchhiking, and camping her way around New Zealand, and Australia. She hopes to begin studying Environmental Technology in the fall, and in the meantime finds herself practicing yoga, reading, and hiking. Stacy believes in natural medicine, the moon, and that everything holds a connection, in this world of illusions.

Alison Macnaughton

Alison was born and raised in Victoria and has completed a BA in Geography at the University of Victoria. Before working for Veins of Life and Rock Solid, she was busy making Christmas crafts and recovering from a recent expedition in Central America. For Alison, the most enjoyable aspect of working with VOLWS and Rock Solid is being an agent of positive change.  After completing this contract, she would like to see more of Canada, hike the Inca trail and find work related to sustainable community development before beginning her graduate studies in the Fall. Alison’s interests include heritage conservation and community history, social development issues (both local and international), and environmental architecture. Her hobbies include anything and everything fun outdoors, painting, drawing, building stuff and snorkeling. She is currently saving up to take scuba lessons. Her favorite colour is Blue Sky – any shade.

David Major

This being the second E-Team he has supervised, David likes to think of himself as a savvy veteran.  Anyone watching him wandering aimlessly around the office may think otherwise...  He does, however, very much enjoy working with motivated youths such his current  and past E-Team crews.  Alas, all good things do come to an end, so after this contract he is planning to spend the spring and summer enjoying the outdoors by mountain biking, photographing interesting things, hiking, and throwing a frizbee through trees and over grass. David is hoping to do some world travelling after the summer to Asia and Japan.
