Greater Yellowlegs (Tringa melanoleuca)

Description: Long, bright yellow legs and a long bill with a slight upward curve. The back is checkered grey, black and white and it has a lighter belly and breast. Whitish rump and tail are visible in flight.

Range: Alaska and Canada. It overwinters in the United States and down to Tierra del Fuego.

Habitat: Found in the shallows of lakes, ponds, wet fields and in tidal mud flats.

General: Usually found singly or in small groups. It feeds on insects crustaceans, molluscs and worms.
