Live Willow Fascine

Willow Stake

Plants are an integral part of riparian ecosystems. Besides its aesthetic quality, riparian vegetation is an important resource that provides food and shelter for fish and wildlife, protects streambanks from erosion, and filters out toxins and silt that can contaminate streams.

This portion of the site concentrates on vegetation found in the riparian zones in theVictoria area. A complete listing of each type of vegetation, whether it be tree, shrub, or herbaceous, is displayed with links to a comprehensive description of the selected plant. Propagation techniques that include seed and vegetative methods are also explained, along with suggestions about the best season for collecting and planting them.
