Grey Wolf or Timber Wolf (Canis lupus)

Description: Largest member of the dog family in North America, weighs from 60 to 130 pounds. Colour varies, grey predominates, but can also be white, tawny, rufous and black.

Habitat: Woodland, often near water bodies.

Feeding: Carnivorous, mostly prey on animals larger than themselves especially on ungulates.

General: Social animals which live and hunt in packs. Only the alpha male and female breed, but the other members of the pack help with the care of the young.
