ANGLING
Angling is labour and time intensive, requires people with angling experience, and the data is of limited use. It is best for estimating angling quality but it can be used to sample fish presence. Angling is best used with other methods to gather information on the presence and size of adult fish. It can be used on its own if more effective means are not available. Angling is size and species selective, usually only fish over 20 cm are sampled.
The equipment needed is a fishing rod and reel, fish hooks, monofilament line, weights, bait, and lures. The best method to sample is to use bait followed by lures, and then flies. In order to sample a species, you need knowledge on the species food and habitat preference.
