Streamside Large Woody Debris Catchers
Common LWD catchments in steams include:
- large boulders on the outside of bends near the thalweg and where the banks
are armoured with rock or large wood,
- catchments of a few large trees from windfalls or erosion, anchored to
the banks by a rootwad mass,
- catchments at point bars to secondary or tertiary channels or side-channels,
often spanning such accessory channels, thereby creating stable flows.
