Public participation is essential to our efforts to address, monitor, and prevent spills in our waterways. As use and enjoyment of the waterway increases, more and more people are becoming stewards of the local environment by reporting contamination and dumping. 

The Veins of Life Watershed Society has made a significant contribution to helping these efforts by posting signage at all outfalls on the Gorge. These signs list the outfall number, thus speeding spill response and sourcing. VOLWS has also linked local spill reporting to the Provincial Emergency Program (PEP) by publicizing the toll-free PEP number, 1-800-663-3456.
